The most widely used IN platform in the industry today, SINAP's
spectrum of prepackaged solutions and development capabilities
are underscored by its scalability, adherence to standards, and
reliability.
Overview
The Stratus Intelligent Network Applications Platform (SINAP(TM))
and its SS7 capabilities have delivered a communications infrastructure
with continuous availability to wireline and wireless networks
since 1990.
Today, SINAP's expanded capabilities help service providers meet
network revenue objectives by serving as a base for prepackaged
Intelligent Network (IN) applications and services. With direct
access to SS7 functions, development tools layered on top of SINAP,
allow users to create customized applications and deploy new network
services in the shortest timeframe possible.
SINAP Common Execution Enviroment benefits
SINAP's Common Execution Environment (CEE) has advanced features
and benefits built into its component structure that set it apart
from other IN development and deployment platforms. These include:
- Common Application Services Layer (CASL)
Riding on top of SINAP, the CASL interface provides a powerful
and easy-to-use development environment that simplifies an application's
view of the underlying network facilities provided by the SS7-based
Intelligent Network.
The Client Application System
The Client Application System is where the user interfaces
with the SS7 network. As client applications respond to queries
issued from the network, the queries and their replies are presented
as a series of Transaction Capabilities Application Part (TCAP)
or Integrated Services Digital Networks User Part (ISUP) components.
Graphical User Interface
SINAP's administrative Graphical User Interface (GUI) gives
a view of an SS7 node for configuration and administration of
links, routes, and subsystems provided by that node. Status and
alarm information is shown on the same screen to assist operations
personnel in their daily maintenance tasks.
Built In Test Environment (BITE)
BITE lets developers test and monitor their applications using
loopback, record, and playback facilities for traffic within the
node. This internal test tool can be used with external SS7 test
equipment to give complete end-to-end testing of applications
prior to installation and integration with customer networks.
Node Management Facility
The Node Management Facility provides operations data and
ensures your ability to grow your service base while maintaining
a single network element view of your application.
Benefits
SINAP is ready to solve the immediate business needs of service
providers. Its benefits include: an SS7 communications infrastructure,
off-the-shelf applications, and development tools that are easily
modified to meet exacting customer requirements.
- Standards-compliant
SINAP's standards-compliant SS7 platform gives IN customers
the most open and comprehensive platform for IN services, and
gives customers moving to IN implementations a clear migration
path to the future.
Rapid development of applications and services
SINAP can be used with a set of IN development tools available
from Stratus that provide a set of C libraries, including Service
Independent Building Blocks (SIBs), to simplify applications program
development. These same development tools are available in a graphic
Service Creation Environment (SCE) to off-load programming intricacies
from the application developer. Information required for an application
is provided by the SCE in the form of easy-to-use pop-up windows.
Meets highest standards of availability and reliability
SINAP is built around Stratus' FTXreg. operating
system. FTX offers significant added value and reliability to
the industry-standard UNIXreg. System V, Release 4
operating system through the extension of Stratus continuous availability
features--making SINAP the most reliable IN platform available.
Multiple applications platform reduces costs, eases delivery
of services and management
In addition to its availability and reliability features,
SINAP allows multiple applications or network services to be implemented
on a single hardware platform, reducing the cost of deployment,
operations, and maintenance. By deploying several services on
a single platform, interfaces to operations support systems and
service management functions are minimized while costs are reduced.
Scalability to maximum performance levels
Delivered on a Stratusreg. Continuous Processingreg.
hardware platform, SINAP communications performance is scalable
across a range from tens to thousands of messages per second.
