The base platform for this application is the Stratus family of computers operating under FTX and using the Stratus Intelligent Network Application Platform (SINAP) as the interface to the SS7 network. The Caller Name application interfaces with the SINAP subsystem and complies with all the requirements of that subsystem.
Minimum requirements include:
See Figure 3 Stratus System Overview.

The TCAP server processes Caller Name database query messages from the SS7 network. The database records are accessed by the Directory Number(DN) key and processed as outlined below.
The server decodes the directory number contained
within the TCAP. The area code of the DN provides the key into
one of the C-NAM database files. If the DN is found within the
file and the privacy marker is not turned on, the name is extracted
and placed into the response message. If the DN is not found,
the application places a default string of information into the
response. The default string is configurable for each of the databases.
If the privacy marker is activated for the DN the response message
contains a default name that is configurable by the system administrator.
